ABOUT LYNNE COPELAND
In 2013 with three young children and a very busy job as an educational psychologist, I came across an 8-week mindfulness course - the idea was to learn to teach mindfulness to children - but I found introducing mindfulness into my own life had a profound positive impact on my ability to cope with whatever life was throwing at me! I realised this was something I needed to focus on for me first - so putting the oxygen mask on myself before helping anyone else.
After spending some time developing my own mindfulness practice, I went on to train to teach mindfulness to children, and then to adults. I have completed a range of training to teach children, including the Mindfulness in Schools Project (MiSP) Paws b course (for primary age) and .b (for teens) course, as well as Mindful Schools training; and have recently worked closely with a practitioner at Castlebar School to develop the curriculum Mindfulness for All Learners.
In 2016, I trained with MiSP to teach the 8-week .b foundations course for education staff and have been delivering that to teachers and LSAs in schools, as well as to Education Mental Health Practitioners, since 2017. I have also trained to teach Finding Peace in a Frantic World and Mindfulness for Life (MBCT/Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy) with Oxford Mindfulness Centre and Bangor University, and deliver courses to adults in the community and online.
As well as teaching mindfulness to adults and children, I continue to work part-time as an educational psychologist in schools.
